Suzi Quatro announced a ten date Australian run on Monday, split between six headline shows with Baby Animals and four appearances on the Red Hot Summer Tour circuit. It is her 41st tour of the country.
The headline dates start on Saturday 14 November at the Coliseum Theatre in Rooty Hill, then move to the Sydney Opera House on 15 November, Wrest Point in Hobart on 18 November and The Star on the Gold Coast on 20 November. December has two: the Palais Theatre in Melbourne on 2 December and Fremantle Prison on 6 December.
The Red Hot Summer shows are the outdoor half of the run: Roma Street Parkland in Brisbane on 22 November, Speers Point Park at Lake Macquarie on 28 November, Torquay Common on 29 November and Seppeltsfield Wines in the Barossa Valley on 5 December. The bill changes from town to town and takes in Baby Animals, Jon Stevens, Rose Tattoo, Dragon, The Choirboys and The Screaming Jets.
“Australia and me? We just love each other," Quatro said. "It has been this ongoing affair, and we should never get married!”
She first played here in 1974 and has been back forty times since. Sixty years into the career, she is still touring on the same instrument and much of the same set.
The venue list is worth reading twice: a national performing arts building in Sydney on a Sunday night, a World Heritage listed former gaol yard in Fremantle three weeks later, and an outdoor winery show in between. The Red Hot Summer dates work differently again, putting five or six acts on a single ticket in a public park or a regional showground, which is how much of this bill now reaches audiences outside the capitals.
Tickets go on general sale on Wednesday 12 August at 10am local time through Face To Face Touring.
