DMA'S released their self-titled fifth album on Friday, out through Wonderlick Entertainment with Sony Music Australia and RCA UK.
The record was written and recorded between the band's own studio in Glebe, in Sydney's inner west, and Los Angeles. The trio co-produced most of it with Lach Bostock of Mansionair, working alongside Jimi Somewhere and Styalz Fuego.
Three Australian shows are already booked. The band opens at the Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane on Friday 27 November, plays the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne on Saturday 28 November as part of the Live At The Gardens series, and finishes at the Sydney Opera House Forecourt on Thursday 3 December under the venue's On The Steps program. All three were announced in April.
Each night pairs the new album with a set drawn from Hills End, the 2016 debut that turns ten this year. It puts the newest material of their career alongside the oldest, across three very different rooms: an indoor music hall, a botanic gardens lawn and an open forecourt on the harbour.
The label arrangement is the quieter change. The album comes through Wonderlick with Sony Music Australia and RCA UK behind it, which Billboard reported as the band moving onto a major label for the first time.
The album is out now. Its first ARIA chart placing will come in the albums chart covering the release week, published later this month, and the tour opens in Brisbane on 27 November.
