Casey Barnes entered the ARIA Australian artist albums chart at No.1 this week with Made For This, one of five new Australian albums in the top six.

The chart is dated 17 August and was published on Friday. Bachelor Girl's Waiting for the Day (Artist Sessions) came in at No.2, Don Walker's Love Songs at No.3, Rowena Wise's Bad Things Feel Good at No.4 and Chris Cobb's More Questions Than Answers at No.6. Adalita's self titled album held No.5 in its sixth week on the chart.

Made For This is Barnes' first album since Mayday in 2024 and came out on 7 August through Community Music. Its title track is the opening theme for Nine's coverage of the 2026 NRL season. The singles released ahead of it were Buy That Girl a Beer, Rough Around the Edges, Made for This and Time to Burn.

On the all comers ARIA albums chart for the same week, Made For This entered at No.6, the highest new Australian entry. Olivia Rodrigo's you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love returned to No.1 in its ninth week, ahead of Ariana Grande's petal. Stray Kids entered at No.3 with This & That and Role Model at No.4 with Chuck Timely & The Hourglass.

The rest of that top ten belongs to records that have been sitting in it for months. Olivia Dean's The Art of Loving is at No.5 in its 46th week, Laufey's A Matter Of Time: The Final Hour at No.7 in its 40th, Noah Kahan's The Great Divide at No.8 in its 16th and Alex Warren's You'll Be Alright, Kid at No.10 in its 76th. Sienna Spiro's Visitor is at No.9 in its sixth week.

Behind the debuts, the Australian chart barely moved. Tame Impala's Deadbeat is at No.7 in its 43rd week, Ninajirachi's I Love My Computer at No.8 in its 44th and Ocean Alley's Love Balloon at No.10 in its 47th. Amy Shark's Soft Pop, which entered the all comers chart at No.2 a fortnight ago, is at No.9 in its third week.

Five debuts in the top six of one chart in one week says more about release scheduling than about demand. The Australian artist chart ranks local releases against each other only, so a week with several new records reshuffles the whole top ten and a quiet week leaves catalogue albums sitting there for a year. The all comers chart is the harder test, and Barnes was the only one of the five to reach its top ten.

The 40th ARIA Music Awards are at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney on 18 November.
