The Penrith Panthers defeated the Wests Tigers 68-0 in Round 14, the biggest winning margin in the club's history, surpassing their previous record of 60 points set against Manly Warringah in 2004.

The Panthers scored 12 tries. They controlled 64 per cent of possession and completed 41 of their 47 sets, an 87 per cent completion rate. They ran 2.5 times more metres than the Tigers and recorded 15 line breaks to the Tigers' one. Wests missed 55 tackles.

Of the 17 Panthers players who took the field, 13 ran more than 100 metres. Only two Tigers players did the same. Prop Moses Leota was the standout individual performer with 118 metres.

'I think it was as close to perfect as we've seen,' Leota said after the match. 'Credit to the boys, we did what we wanted to do.'

Chad Townsend offered a blunter assessment. 'This is a one-off with what you do when you don't control the ball and you can't defend your try line,' he said. 'The Tigers got what they deserved.'

The result reignited discussion about the competitive balance at the bottom of the NRL ladder. The Tigers have now conceded 40 or more points six times this season in 14 rounds.
