Fremantle scored 24.11 (155) to North Melbourne's 4.7 (31) at Bunbury's Hands Oval on Saturday, winning by 124 points in the largest margin of victory in the Dockers' history and extending their winning streak to 12 consecutive matches, also a club record.
The match was level 14 points apart at the seven-minute mark of the second quarter. What followed was one of the most devastating quarter-hour periods the AFL has seen this season. Fremantle kicked eight goals in 19 minutes to lead by more than 50 points at half-time, 13.4 (82) to 4.4 (28).
Patrick Voss and Josh Treacy each kicked four goals. Luke Jackson added three and was dominant in the ruck, finishing with 19 disposals, 22 hitouts and three majors. Andrew Brayshaw collected 30 disposals and Shai Bolton 27. Hayden Young, returning from a concussion absence, contributed 23 disposals and two goals.
For North Melbourne, who conceded their equal-seventh heaviest defeat in club history, the afternoon offered little in the way of comfort.
Coach Justin Longmuir said the performance reflected what the team had been working toward since the pre-season. 'When we move the ball at speed and maintain our defensive structure, we are very hard to play against,' he said.
Fremantle's remaining schedule has three of the top-six sides.
